Online TESOL Course aims
The 100-hour TESOL course without tutor support aims to provide you with a complete introduction to the world of TESOL. Upon completion of the course, graduates will have a good working knowledge of the English grammatical system as well as an awareness of the techniques and skills required to be a successful English language teacher. The 50-hour course provides a good basic introduction to teaching English to speakers of other languages. Please note that many employers will require their teaching staff to have taken a course of 100 hours or more.
Online TESOL Course content
The 100-hour course is divided into two main areas - teaching skills and language awareness. The teaching skills component provides details of the techniques and skills required by teachers in the classroom while the language awareness component gives a solid foundation course in English grammar.
This course consists of 20 units/modules, carefully chosen and organized to ensure a gradual build up of knowledge whilst not overloading students with too much information at any one time. These units allow you to work through the course at a pace that suits your requirements.
The 50-hour course includes the 10 units most relevant to teaching skills, lesson planning and classroom management but doesn't include the units relating to language awareness.
The Online TESOL Certification course units are as follows (each unit approximately 5 hours):

- How to teach new language.*
- The future.
- Teaching receptive skills.*
- Modals and conditionals.
- Teaching productive skills.*
- Passive voice and other commonly taught grammar items.
- Teaching pronunciation.
- Lesson planning.*
- Lessons in practice (Video/CD ROM).*
- Course books and other classroom materials.*
- Educational technology.
- Evaluating and testing students.*
- Teaching special groups.
- Trouble shooting.
- Supplementary unit/module - Finding a job and thirty-five top tips for classroom teaching.

Modules are emailed to you (with the exception of the Lessons in Practice module which you can download or receive on a CD-ROM by mail).
Unlike the course with tutor support, this course is assessed by means of a final exam. When you have studied all the relevant modules you can download the final exam. Most people require approximately 6 hours to complete the exam, however it must be completed within a 24-hour time period.
Upon successful completion of the final exam you will be sent your final grade, a letter of recommendation and a high quality TESOL certificate!
Our online TESOL courses have been designed to allow for absolute flexibility. The course must be completed within six months of receiving your first course unit, but during this time period you can work at a pace that suits you. Please note that you should probably allow for about 5 hours per unit for studying the material and 1 hour for completing the task sheet. We suggest receiving only one unit per day to get the maximum benefit from the course. This will enable you to complete the course quickly and will also give you time to fully understand and digest each unit/lesson before continuing. However, if you would like to work through the course more quickly, or more slowly, the choice is yours.
