TESOL course - general location information

Our TESOL course in France offers a unique insight and experience of ‘real’ France. France is famous for its history, culture, cuisine and romance and these factors combine to make this one of our most popular locations for taking a TESOL course. If you wish to teach English in France, or anywhere else for that matter, our course in France is the ideal place to start your teaching career.

France seems to hold an appeal for visitors of all nationalities. Something about the country just catches the imagination. Maybe it is the beautiful green countryside with forests, rolling hills, meandering rivers and dotted with charming villages and ruined castles or maybe it is the bright lights of Paris with the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, or there again maybe it is the justifiably world famous cuisine and wines. Whatever the reason, France is incredibly seductive and offers something for everybody. You can get to experience all of this with our TESOL course center in Mauzac/Bordeaux.

Our TESOL course in France is held in the beautiful small town of Mauzac, which is situated approximately 200km inland from the coast, in the stunning Perigordine countryside near Bordeaux.

The nearby city of Bergerac (which has the closes international airport to Mauzac) is just half an hour away and the charming town of Lalinde is just 7 minutes west. Mauzac is a lovely small town that sits along the banks of the Dordogne river.

The town is very small and peaceful with just one general store, a bar/cafe, a typically French restaurant, post office, tennis courts, sailing club and train station. While there are a number of other bigger towns within easy reach, the nearest major city is Bordeaux and there are 3 trains that run there daily from Mauzac.

The Dordogne river valley is well-known throughout Europe for its amazing history, dating back to Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon man and, much more recently, stunning medieval towns and cities and splendid chateaus. Even in an area this small area there is a tremendous variety of landscapes, from the famed black forests to the south of the town to the limestone surrounding the capital and of course we shouldn’t forget the very important wine growing areas in the west (in fact there is a grape commonly used in wine making named Mauzac after the town).

Bordeaux, about 100km away, is a lively city that is home to a very large university student population. This perhaps accounts for the exciting nightlife and relatively inexpensive prices. Bordeaux is also regarded highly due to its neoclassical architecture and 18th century grandeur, as well as some fine museums.

About The TESOL Training School

Our TESOL training facility in France is located in the charming and historic town/village of Mauzac which is perfectly situated along the banks of the Dorgogne river. The surrounding area is home to stunning countryside, many interesting historical sites and some of France’s most famous vineyards.

Our school has very spacious and well-equipped classrooms and has all of the materials and teaching resources that you need during your course. The school is, in fact, a former hotel and is located right on the bank of the Dordogne.

Mauzac is 60 miles (100 km) from Bordeaux and 15 miles (27 km) from Bergerac. Due to the beauty, peace and tranquility of the area, Mauzac provides a location that is very conducive to study and as such it is an ideal place for your TESOL course in France.

TESOL course - Accommodation

The one difficulty with running a course in such a small and quiet area is that accommodation options are limited but there are two different options for our TESOL course students:

Firstly, you can choose to stay in an apartment located in a fourteenth century castle. One of these apartments has four bedrooms (each room has two small beds) and the other apartment has two bedrooms with just one large bed in room. These rooms are ideal for single people or for couples.

Both of the apartments have kitchens should you wish to try your hand at your own version of French cuisine. As the apartments are in a 700-year old castle, it is certainly a unique and interesting place to stay but don’t expect all modern conveniences. All in all this accommodation option makes for a great adventure.

The second option is to stay in a nearby small hotel. The hotel is beautifully situated right on the Dordogne River and it also offers the advantage of having an attached restaurant.

Both of these options are well located within walking distance of our TESOL center and both are priced the same; 300 euros for a shared room and 450 euros for a private room. These prices are for 4 weeks and therefore cover the duration of the course.
