TESOL Course - General Location Information

Greece is the perfect location for one of our TESOL courses. Our chosen course location in Greece is the beautiful island of Ios which is situated in the South of the Cyclades islands. It has a total land mass of just over 100 square kilometers and a populace of only 1,500 people.

The name Ios probably comes from the Ionians and extensive excavations point to an early Mycenaean settlement on the island.

Ios is also well known for its close relationship with the great poet Homer and indeed Homer was buried on the island and there’s a ruin at Plakoto which is known as Homer's tomb. Chora, the capital of the island, stands near the site of the ancient city of Ios.

Ios’ also has historical Venetian and Byzantine influences which can be seen in the 15th century fortress and the island’s numerous churches. Ios finally became part of Greece in 1832.

In more modern times Ios has become famous as a tourist destination for young people from all around the globe. People primarily visit Ios for the beautiful deep blue sea, the year round sunshine and the hectic nightlife.

In the day visitors can enjoy swimming from the lovely beaches, including the famous Mylopotas which is widely regarded as one of the best in Greece, Manganari which is a large, golden, sandy beach in the far south of the island, Ayia Theodoti which is a lovely secluded beach and Psathi (a delightful and usually deserted beach on the island’s east coast).

The island’s capital, Chora, with its narrow streets, white houses, windmills and quaint churches is certainly well worth a visit. It also is a nice location to enjoy dinner overlooking the lovely harbour of Ios.

Ios is famous throughout the world for its frenetic nightlife and Chora with its countless bars, pubs, clubs and discotheques is the most popular night time location. It is generally a very young, diverse and cosmopolitan crowd and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Ios has something to offer almost everyone with its mix of history, architecture, fine beaches, dazzling sea and amazing nightlife. Ios is a place of freedom and fun and as such is the ideal location to take a TESOL course,

Our TESOL school in Greece is situated in Chora, the capital of the lovely island of Ios The school is on the west of the island and about a twenty minute walk from the Town port.

Our TESOL school on Ios was set up in 2003.

Our training staff in Ios is experienced and qualified and are available to help you get the most from your TESOL course and advise you regarding your future teaching career. The training facility is comfortable and has all the necessary facilities for your course.

TESOL Course - Accommodation

During the low season we can rent a nice pension for you, where you have your private room but may need to share a bathroom

Housing prices:

• 300 euros for a private room (October to June)
• 300 euros for a shared room, 500 euros for a private room (July to September)
