TESOL Certifications in Rome | TESOL in Italy

Rome is one of our most popular TESOL course locations. The combination of culture, history and the large number of English teaching jobs throughout Italy make it an ideal choice for a TESOL course. Our TESOL training center is in a perfect location, close to the Vatican and public transport and offers very modern training facilities and professional staff to ensure you have a memorable time during your course.

It is easy to imagine sitting outdoors on a pleasant evening enjoying a refreshing ice cream, while sitting on the world famous spanish Steps, or overlooking the Coliseum and just watching as people stroll on by… This wonderful mix of the old and the new, of culture and history and the unique delights that Rome offers, makes it, unquestionably, one of the most beautiful, fascinating and famous cities in the world.

Rome is widely known as the eternal city and is certainly one of the most important of all European cities in terms of the sheer wealth of history, culture and religion and has been so for thousands of years. It is hard to imagine that any other city could rival the overall depth of history and beauty that can be found here, with wonderful architectural structures such as the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, the remains of the Roman Forum the imposing presence of the Vatican and the masterpiece that is Sistine Chapel, and that's just beginning.

However, Rome isn't only a place to experience the past. There is also a modern lively feeling to the city and it is a wonderful location in which to witness modern daily-life and see how it fits in comfortably against the backdrop of ancient culture and history.

The many delightful old squares with their old-fashioned, cobblestone streets and courtyards are favorite meeting places for both locals and tourists and are fantastic places for sitting under the warm Italian skies and people watching. Rome has a great many restaurant terraces offering authentic and sensational Italian cuisine, yet at quite reasonable prices.

Rome is situated along the Italian West Coast and while the city is very large and spread out over an extensive area running down to the coast, the famous historical center is quite small and localized and it is certainly easy enough to visit most of the better known attractions on foot. The city, however, also has an extensive, efficient and modern public transport system for visiting further afield.

Due to its close proximity to the beach, the city of Rome is ideally located for people wishing to experience a major historical city and yet at the same time have easy access to the lovely beaches of the Mediterranean.

As there is a wide range of opportunities for teaching English in Italy, it is the perfect choice of location for your TESOL course.

While there are no deadlines for a deposit, courses can fill up quickly and your seat will only be reserved after the deposit has been paid.

Once you make your deposit, you will receive an email with an informational packet that provides detailed information about the course and Rome itself.

The balance of course fees are payable on the first day of class and can be made with a credit/debit card or in cash. Alternatively, you can pay the balance via Pay Pal or bank transfer before the first day of class.

Course fees are all-inclusive so you won’t be asked to pay additional costs for course related materials or services. This also includes course moderation and accreditation fees, airport pick-ups* and lifetime job assistance.

    * If you are in our accommodation program, we offer a courtesy pick-up service from Fiumicino airport to your accommodation on the Friday before the beginning of the course from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

  • What is the course schedule?

    Expand

Classes generally begin at 9:30 a.m. and run until 1:30 p.m. during which grammar and theory are discussed. Afternoons are spent planning lessons with our trainers. Trainees then teach their lessons during the afternoons and evenings, possibly until 8:30 p.m.

  • What can I expect during teaching practice?

    Expand

Annually, our school has about 900 students of all ages and all levels, so our trainees will have the opportunity to experience all kinds of teaching situations. The students come from many backgrounds, countries (though typically Italy) and work places.

Lessons are based upon real teaching resources found all over the world and you will have the chance to create your own materials as well. You will receive the aid of your course trainer throughout lesson planning and receive immediate feedback on your lesson after it’s been delivered. Practicum is assessed and a satisfactory assessment is required to earn your TEFL/TESOL certificate.

On average we have about twenty five students enrolled on each program, most of whom are American or British, but we also have students from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa amongst others. Ages range from 20 to 60 years old, although the majority of our students are between 22 and 30 years old.

  • Is there a dress code?

    Expand

During trainees’ lessons, casual attire is allowed. During teaching practice, you will need to dress in trousers/skirts and closed-toe shoes. Men need collared shirts, while women need to wear conservative tops that will cover their shoulders. No visible tattoos or facial piercings are allowed while teaching local students.

  • What should I bring for course studies?

    Expand

Just like the first day of any other school, you will need some supplies. We will give you your course material and notebook, but you will need to have your own pens and pencils. You may also want scotch tape, a stapler, highlighters, colored pencils and markers, glue, scissors and white-out. You will also need to buy your own paper for the photocopier. All of these materials can be purchased from a store near the school if you do not wish to bring them from home.

Please note that we have wireless internet available at the school for hooking up a laptop but normally there are no phone lines in the accommodation. There are numerous internet facilities all over Rome and should you require a computer for coursework at the school, we have a computer with internet access available in your classroom.
