I studied english (and italian) and since 2005 I have worked as a freelancer. So I teach english to people who are interested in the english language for whatever reason. I teach both groups and individual students.
I have taken this course as I wanted to make sure that I am doing my job correctly. Quality work is one of my principles and as there is hardly anyone to check my performances, I decided to do this course.
The course was very well structured and covered all the areas of the language that are necessary for a fundamental knowledge of english.
First of all, I was happy to review all the different fields of grammar. I also enjoyed all the teaching ideas, games and suggestions for varied lessons. Indeed, I have learned various additional teaching skills which I can use in future classes. I also liked to complete the lesson plans as I was forced to adjust the topics and methods to the particular language level of the students. By doing so, I have collected even more useful games and activities. It felt like filling a treasure chest.
Concerning how I plan to put into action what I have learned, I think that any course I teach in the future will benefit from this training. Moreover, the certificate might help me to be accepted as a teacher when it comes to ESP and Business english. I found the given needs analysis very helpful and also the remark, that there is no need to be an expert in the client's field. I think this fact changed my own approach so that I won't be as hesitant about it any longer. I honestly enjoyed all the theoretical explanations and all the great advice. Special thanks also to my tutor who was always very friendly, helpful and encouraging.
I would always recommend this course and look forward to the next one.
