This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Yes, when using a computer in a classroom make sure everything works before presenting in front of an audience. I learned this lesson the hard way when presenting material to a class a few years back. When setting up a PowerPoint video, I didn?t embed the video into the presentation, but instead linked the video. I didn?t take into account that with a link, you would need an internet connection. The internet wasn?t working too well in our building that day, so the linked video would not play once it came time to incorporate the video into the lesson. When the video wouldn?t play, I had to explain what the video WOULD HAVE shown, which effectively took away from the original lesson plan as well as took away creditability of the example lesson. From then on, I anticipate possible issues with technology and try to troubleshoot potential issues when test running lesson plans.
