Unit 19 deals with the teaching of special groups, i.e. those different from the more usual groups composed of adult learners of general English. However it may be that many groups of adult learners of general English could also be beginners, monolingual or multilingual. In my case we teach English to adults aged from 18 to 80, who come from many different countries and who are placed into 3 groups: beginners/elementary, elementary/pre-intermediate and intermediate/upper intermediate. It is, therefore, very useful for me to cover detail relevant to these particular groups, while, at the same time, realising that much of the content relating to the teaching of children's and business English classes is also very pertinent to our situation.
