In this unit we were given a very specific look at strategies discussed in Unit 2, and they were applied to vocabulary study. Of course, vocabulary is the first step of learning any new language. As I studied this unit, I thought of ways to teach vocabulary and grammar using pictures, initially in the engage stage and progressing to a matching exercise in the study phase. The pictures would consist of students greeting each other before class, and progress to matching pictures with the dialogue that would be used. Finally, students would be asked to role play the situation they just set up in the previous two stages. Using the patchwork and boomerang methods after the straight arrow method given above, would provide some flexibility to add to the lesson in later class sessions enabling the student to use repetition to review the previous lesson and add new skills to continuing lessons.
