This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This chapter provided an overview of the different teaching methodologies. It also explained the elements of a successful English lesson plan. The chapter mainly focused on the three different stages: Engage Study and Activate. Each stage explained and various lesson plans as well as activities were provided for each stage. I found this unit to be very informative. I have often used these methods and theories in my classes without understanding them. I find many of my classes are patchwork classes. However, this chapter has helped me gain a deeper understanding of the different stages in a lesson. I also found the overview of teaching methodologies to be fascinating. I would like to learn more about the different teaching methodologies; I would love to incorporate some of these methods into my own classes. My only issue with this chapter is that the activities and games provided seemed to be focused on more advanced English students. As an English teacher at an elementary school, many of these games seem too advanced for younger learners. Obviously many can be modified, but I think there could have been more activities included for younger learners.
