TEFL Course Aims
The overall design of the 150-hour CTP TESOL course is intended to provide a comprehensive introduction to the world of English language teaching. Every course graduate should have developed a good working knowledge of the English grammar system, plus many other essential skills and techniques that you will find invaluable throughout your career in the classroom.
TEFL Course Content
The 150-hour CTP TEFL course consists of two distinct phases. Phase 1 is focused on a wide range of subjects concerning teaching skills, including teaching theories and methodologies, classroom management, lesson planning, and ways to test and evaluate the progress of your students. This phase also looks at language awareness issues, such as the parts of speech and the tense system, as well as other important subjects like pronunciation and phonology.
To help you through this wide range of topics they have been carefully separated into twenty individual units that have been designed to gradually build your knowledge, and not overwhelm you with too much information at once. This course design means you should be able to comfortably work through all twenty units at a pace that you find most beneficial.
Phase 2 is where the teaching practice begins. For this phase of the course you will need to arrange a time and place where you can complete a minimum of six hours teaching practice. Once the lessons are completed, you simply send us the required documentation online and we will evaluate your performance. You will be notified of your result within two working days. This course is marked on a pass/fail basis only and no other grade will be awarded.
The certificate for this course shows that you have completed a 150-hour TEFL/TESOL certification course which also included a minimum of six hours of supervised teaching practice.
