This course has helped me to review language skills such as grammar terms and structures and has helped me gain a much better understanding of what it takes to teach the different components of the language to others. I’ve learned how to prepare and plan lessons for a variety of levels and ages of students and how to deal with issues that will arise in the future. I understand how to adapt classes to meet the students’ needs and desires in learning english.
I plan to continue teaching, using what I’ve learned to plan and carry out effective lessons. Since I’m currently teaching, I have already been able to put into practice the knowledge I’ve gained about lesson planning and the teaching of the different aspects of the language. I plan to return to the U.S. after my year of teaching in spain and pursue a Masters in Teaching and initial teaching license; I hope to expand on what I’ve learned in order to be a successful teacher in the future. This course will obviously be especially beneficial for me when working with students who are learning english as their second language.
