In my teaching practice, I often use timeline chart to show the present time and the past time (for present perfect and present perfect continuous tenses). Then I sometimes ask my students to practice some proofreading exercises which are better than just gap-filling one sentence. In Activate stage, I almost let students create some conversation in role-play activities by using different present tenses.
