This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This module was all about pronunciation. I was most intimidated by the phonetic alphabet, though I was relieved I remembered most of it from my Linguistics courses at university. The most difficult part, even for me, is the intonation of sentences, though the examples given were very helpful. Luckily, as a Literature teacher, I am familiar with stressed and unstressed syllables, so this did not pose too much of a problem for me. I am excited to teach this aspect of English, probably the most excited of any aspect so far. Diagrams of the mouth, however, may prove too difficult for me, as I am a terrible artist. Perhaps I could make my own basic drawing, and it could even become an inside joke between me and my students!
