This unit explains how to introduce new information from vocabulary and grammar to grammatic structures. The unit reviewed the parts that make up an ESA lesson, Engage, Study and Activate. Appropriate strategies and activities were discussed for the introducing the three different concepts and were categorized by what part of the lesson each activity belongs in. There was also discussion about lesson planning and using differing iterations of engage, study and activate to most effectively teach a lesson. The straight arrow lesson was discussed for teaching vocabulary while the boomerang and patchwork methods of adding extra sections for study or activation were illustrated for teaching new grammar and grammatic structures.
