This unit has made me more aware of the several and various approaches for language learners to acquire a new language. The common theme for success was enabling the student through the ESA method to be motivated toward, exposed to and given the opportunity to use the new language as much as possible. The motivation can come from games, music, pictures and stories; the teaching from language construction with an emphasis more on modelling and explicit teaching of language areas then followed by an exercise to activate and show their new knowledge via a poster, advertisement or similar.
I found the point about not interrupting and over correcting a student significant so as not to cause loss of enthusiasm or self-esteem.
