In this unit I have learned about different types of syllabus design. A structural syllabus is based on the complexity of grammar, beginning with the easier grammar points and progressing through to the more difficult points. Situational syllabus is based less on grammar and is focused more on specific situation practice. The learner-led syllabus, allows students to have an input in the design of the syllabus of the course. The syllabus that aims more at the communicative side of teaching is the functional-notional syllabus. With all of these examples of syllabus design, some references suggest that a combination of a structural and a functional-notional syllabus can be an effective design for teaching young learners.
