Me Vs I English Grammar Teaching Tips - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL-TESOL Courses

In this video we take a look at the difference between "me" and "I". While they are often used without a problem in normal sentences, they are often used incorrectly in certain situations. For example, in the sentence "can you send the report to Ian and I" the use of "I" is incorrect. It should be "can you send the report to Ian and me" The reason for this is that "I" is a subject pronoun and ?me" is an object pronoun. If you remove Ian from the sentence, it becomes clear that the use of "I" is wrong. You would not say ?can you send the report to I" but you would say "can you send the report to me?". This is an easy trick to see which of the two is the correct one. Watch the video and give it a try. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their...  [Read more]

Some Vs Any English Grammar Teaching Tips - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL-TESOL Courses

Some and Any are two words that often cause confusion, which is why we have decided to take a closer look at the difference of the two words in this video. Firsly, some is a determiner used for positive statements while any is a determiner used in questions and negative statements. Consider the following situation: I asked the teacher if he could give me some paper. I said ‘Excuse me, have you got any paper?’ Unfortunately, he didn’t have any. The first statement is positive and therefore requires us to use some. The second sentence is a question and therefore, we need to use any. The third and final sentence is a negative statement which also requries us to use any. It's worth noting that we do sometimes use some in questions and we also use any in positive statements. After learning about the future tenses and looking closely at the activities (teaching ideas), I strongly agree with the text's statement. It details the advantages and disadvantages of course books. Some disadvantages include the fact that books tell the teacher what is to be taught rather than allowing the teacher to cater to the actual needs of the class; another is that it makes lessons rather predictable; yet another is that teachers may frequently fall back on using only what the book provides and rarely supplementing with fresh...  [Read more]

Pronunciation And Phonology/consonants And Vowels - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL-TESOL Courses

The next thing we should look at is how our consonants are arranged for the top two rows we have P and F at the left side of our chart and G and J at the right side of our chart. They're arranged this way because if we analyze the way we speak we're using the front of our mouth to use these sounds as in ?p? and ?f? and I'm using my lips and my teeth to produce those sounds and as we move to the right on the chart slowly but surely we're making those sounds it towards the back of our mouth. We can use the examples of ?g?. The sound ?g? is produced further back in our mouth than ?p?. The next thing we'll notice about our chart is that some of our symbols are shaded. Notice that none of the symbols in the vowel sections are shaded but only a few are in the consonant section. The...  [Read more]

I have even more respect now for those individuals who learn our complex language, especially with all those irregular verbs whereby there are no formulas to them, you just have to memorise them. I was in the position of having to return home and finish other work commitments before I could embark on a teaching career. I soon realized that if I was going to be confident in my new found teaching skills and to have the opportunity to build on what I had learned, I was going to have to do something proactive in the area of teaching English as a second language even though I was not in the position to take a full time teaching position.
