As the UK is an English speaking country it does supply a large number of TESOL qualified teachers to work in countries all over the world. However, due to the high cost of living, many of these complete their training through an online TESOL course or at a training center located overseas where the overheads are less and the demand for qualified teachers is particularly high. The truth is that the vast majority of first-time teachers from the UK head abroad to find teaching jobs initially as positions within the UK itself will normally be snapped up by experienced teachers who are returning from teaching overseas.

Due to economic factors there are less in-class TESOL courses available within the UK as there were a few years ago. However, there are still plenty of different options available in various locations and at various prices. As the style of course varies from one provider to the next it is hard to give an accurate price as one course might be day attendance over a weekend while another might be a four-week residential course. If you are looking for a full TESOL course that results in a certification that is welcomed by employers worldwide, then you should budget for around $2,000 US, plus accommodation and living expenses.
As the cost of an in-class course in the UK can be prohibitive for many people, it is common for trainees to head overseas to complete their training as the initial course is often cheaper and the cost of living during the course is greatly reduced. Many people choose to head to Asia where local job markets are booming, which means that jobs are relatively easy to come by after the course. The cost of training and everyday living is also less in many parts of the continent. Countries such as Cambodia, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam all have very strong markets for TESOL qualified teachers and the initial cost of the training is certainly less than what you would pay in the UK. Europe and Latin America are also popular options for an in-class TESOL course.
Although an in-class course is hard to beat in terms of the hands-on training and teaching practice involved, not to mention the almost guaranteed job options that are available locally post-course, an online TESOL course is still a good alternative if your funds are tight. There are many different online course providers out there offering a wide range of course options, so you are sure to find something to suit your plans and budget. At ITTT we provide a range of online course options to suit everyone.
For an entry-level TESOL certification that will allow you to apply for most mainstream ESL teaching jobs, we recommend our 120-hour TESOL certification course.
If you would like to apply for higher-level positions now or in the future, we also recommend our 370-hour Diploma in TESOL that comes complete with the initial 120-hour course above.

ITTT has run an in-class TESOL course in the UK for many years, however, that option came to an end as the pandemic hit and it has yet to restart. However, we are currently offering in-class courses in a number of other great locations around the world. Most of these locations are in an area that has a strong demand for TESOL qualified teachers and most graduates are able to find a good teaching job soon after completing the course. Our in-class course is currently available in amazing countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Egypt, France, Italy, Spain, Thailand, the USA, and Vietnam, to name just a few.
