Evaluation and Testing of Students - Diagnostic & Progress Test

This video is part of our video series on "Evaluation and Testing of Students". In this video, we look at the diagnostic and progress test. A diagnostic test gives the teacher information about the students' current strengths and weaknesses, while a progress test is usually held multiple times during a course covering all the material taught up until that point to check understanding.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

In this unit, we covered pronunciation and phonology which was one of the more difficult lessons so far for me. I learnt the differences between stress, intonation and articulation. Along with the phonemic symbols and how they help students to know how to pronounce a certain word. The biggest problem for the students from this area of grammar is irregular verbs. There is no way to solve that problem except to simply memorised them. Rules how and when we use some Paste Tense are determined on such a way that we can easily recognize how to use them correctly.Today i saw two different lessons. Fitst one is an example how teacher musn`t behave in the classroom, how he musn`t talk with the students. Second lesson is a good example of the effective lesson. I saw how teacher should act in the classrom, how he should speak in the classrom.
