I became aware of the anatomy of my mouth and how it is used to form speech. Linguistics is definitely a topic I need to study. I learnt about the phonemic alphabet which allows you to write out sounds, symbols representing them. This is different than just writing out the way a word sounds such as 'k-at'. This is great for learning pronunciation, especially since different English speaking countries speak with different accents and sometimes don't pronounce some letters of words correctly. In Australia we may say \"wadda\" instead of \"water\", but we would still write the phonemic symbols for water as: /'w?:t?/
