In this unit I learned about different kinds of evaluations and their application regarding new English speakers. Most of the unit focused on testing both in the classroom and outside. The area of testing most commonly used in the classroom is progress testing, which can identify which language areas are retained and which might need some refreshing. These tests should be a balance of the four language areas and focus on the concepts being tested. The unit also gave an overview of external examinations. The completion of these exams and the opportunities that may arise afterwards may be what motivate many learners.
