This was a very insightful unit. It gave me a look at what not to do when teaching anyone not just ESL students. Teaching above there level and telling them how easy something that is not understood is an awful way to have to learn anything. Being personable and respectful by learning names in any culture will be appreciated and set a positive rapport. A teacher sets the tone and mood climate and students are impacted positively or negatively. Full clear explanations of language point and expectations (with examples) and goals will also ease nervous students that may be reluctant to participate.
