This unit focused on the use of teaching equipment and teaching aids. The most prominent piece of equipment I would expect to use is a board of some kind. Some important details to remember when using a board are to always keep it legible, capitalized text may be harder to read, and keep in mind that students will be taking notes so some form of sectioning and organization is needed. Similarly another set of equipment i may end up using is an interactive whiteboard. When getting adjusted to the software of the IWB its important to review the set of materials thoroughly because it is a tool that can dramatically cut the prep time for a lesson if a teacher knows how to use it. Another possibility in a teachers arsenal of teaching equipment is an overhead projector. Various advantages arise when using an OHP for example less time is spent with your back the class, sheets can be pre-prepared before the lesson, and sheets can be used again and again. Visual aids and worksheets are also very commonly used in the classroom for lessons and can always be used to elicit students into discussion and engagement. Other forms of media that can be used to help students with pronunciation and engagement include cassette players, DVDs, CDs, and video cameras. Finally some materials that could always be useful in a lesson include dictionaries, course books, and resource books.
