The teacher's purpose in the student's life is never to be underestimated. Knowing the subject is one thing, but it is how he/she delivers knowledge that significantly defines the student's ability to learn and grow. I can take away many important notes to begin a clear teaching career from this lesson, but the most valuable component to me personally is the emphasis of rapport. Rapport is measured by communication strategies from rotating class structure and peer groups, to balancing the isolation between individual and classroom attention, which can always be a challenge. Management among students should create a community of mutuality and openness to learning mainly from the teacher, but also the opportunity to learn from our peers. How everyone will achieve that mutuality ultimately weighs on the leadership and respect the teacher can competently model.
