Why do we speak or write? Because we have a desire or need to communicate. Even though there is a difference in standards of formality, accuracy and fluency, both skills require one's solid foundation in vocabulary and grammar, which should be strongly exercised in the study phase. Normally speaking, speaking activities will expect a low student participation level due to a variety of reasons including self-confidence and fear of mistakes, therefore it is very important for us teachers to involve in more pair work and group work and allow sufficient time to reduce student stress. Moreover, a good game can play a significant role in enhancing students' learning but should be planned in a controlled way as part of the lesson, not a substitute for amusement.
