Throughout this unit, I learnt about the present tenses. I discovered that the tense system is one of the areas in the English Language that causes students and teacher a great amount of difficulty. Linguists say that only two tenses exist, but being an EFL teacher, we learn that there are twelve. There are the three main tenses: past, present and future, and each tense has four aspects: simple, continuous, perfect continuous, and perfect continuous which makes 12 in all. I began with Present Simple which was very basic, then moved on to Present Continuous, Present Perfect, and finally Present Perfect Continuous. I learnt the affirmative, negative, and question form to each verb, as well as usages. It was interesting to see common errors/ mistakes in each verb tense, but also the rules to all the Present Tenses.
