This unit covers the topic of teaching themes. There can be many different themes when teaching English to young learners to increase the motivation and make sure the class does not bore them. Songs, chants and music can be used for practising listening, speaking(singing), reading and creative writing. Younger learners will probably be more eager to sing along or act out actions with the song, but for older students it's best to use songs for activities other than speaking, such as writing their own verse for a pop song. Many games can be adapted for classroom use and can be used with any level and age group. Arts and crafts can also be part of the lesson and all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking can be practised. Seasonal activities and drama can also be themes of the lesson.
