This unit provides videos of the same lesson taught first with a series of intentional errors and then in an effective manner to highlight the differences. In the first lesson, the teacher insists that the material is extremely easy and intimidates the students, failing to smile, get to know their names, or encourage them. The result is that the students seem confused and do not want to participate. In the second lesson, to demonstrate the contrast, the teacher is energetic, encouraging, constantly smiling, acting out words, and has an enthusiasm that noticeably impacts the class. The result of this behavior is that the class becomes much more engaged, and the objectives of the lesson are more readily met because the students want to participate and the teacher does a better job of clarifying.
