In Unit 9: Lesson Planning, the content describes how to create a basic lesson plan. It is noted that it is not necessary to actually plan a lesson, but inexperienced teachers may benefit more from a lesson plan. These plans do not have to be completely concrete and scripted, but should include learner objectives, personal aims, the language point being studied, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedure, phase, timing, interaction, class level and number of students in the class, date and time, and the teacher and observer names. The unit also notes that the teacher may want to monitor their own lessons with an evaluation sheet. There are also some examples given of worksheets for a sequence of lessons. Overall, I learned from this unit how to formulate a basic lesson plan.
