This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 4 covers present tenses. This section I reviewed four different tenses- the present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. Within these tenses I went over forms (affirmative, negative, and question), usages, and typical student errors. After finishing the chapter I can confidently say I am able to differentiate between these four tenses and will be able to activate students properly. In this unit I have looked at the potential problems which may arise while teaching. I confirmed that it is not usually necessary or advisable to use the course book during the first class. Instead the focus should be on building rapport with the students and finding out the children?s level. When children are using their native language, it is a good idea not to respond and to find ways to encourage them to use English.
