Phonetics presents a unique challenge, because it strongly impacts writing and speaking ability; if pronunciation is incorrect, that can lead to incorrect writing(because the learner may visualize incorrect information), and difficult-to-understand speaking. But sometimes practicing sounds can be tiresome, which is why I believe the activities are crucial in this stage, so that it doesn't become repetitive. It was interesting to see how the combination of stress and intonation work together, to form language. I think once a student can grasp the main aspects of communication, then occasionally a teacher should try to apply pronunciation lessons; I feel that focus on pronunciation at too early of a stage, can remove concentration of just creating the message.
