Lesson planning is a way for the teacher to organise their thoughts or approach to a particular topic. It gives the teacher some structure which they are then able to adapt depending on the receptivity of the students on that day. I believe the most important aspect of the plan is the learner objective of the lesson, the rest is the means to the end. Flexibility will be key as students will pick up topics at various speeds and require more or less teacher talk time. Awareness of this from a teacher will allow them to optimise their lesson if the subject is picked up quickly with more activation time and integration of previous material. Conversely more time can be emphasised with the study phase and one on one help if students are really struggling.
