This unit explained the important aspects of introducing new vocabulary, new grammar, and new language functions. I learned the importance of selecting vocabulary to teach. I learned specifically that it is useful to choose vocabulary based on frequency and coverage so as not to provide an overly comprehensive list that would be overwhelming. I also noted the difference between an ESA lesson that is focused on introducing new vocabulary and one that is focused on teaching a new grammatical structure. This reminded me of the warnings from previous units on over-correction. I think if a lesson is vocabulary focused, the study stage could be more loose on enforcing grammar points and vice versa in order to make students more confident to practice.
