The basic key of a successful receptive skill lesson are: choose material that interests/motivates the students.Build interiest beforereading/listening.Pre-teaching complex vocabulary or structures if necessary,but don' over do it.Vary the type of material.Use the materia; to practise different skills.Use realistic comprehension tasks that aid inderstanding.Incorporate activate phases that naturally lead on from the text.The unit introduces an approach to teaching new languages. It is divided into three main parts which focus on Teaching vocabulary, Introducing grammatical structures, and Teaching language functions. Each individual part offers a different example of a structured lesson (boomerang, patchwork, and straight arrow type) based on the Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) methodology that was explained in one of the previous units.
