This unit outlined the important roles a teacher can adopt as well as the different aspects that can affect a learners ability to learn. It was clear that to be a good teacher, one has to be aware of one's role as a teacher and which role to take in regards to the activity set and their student's English level. It stressed the different ways learners can be motivated to learn a language as well as some of the possible pitfalls to be aware of when teaching a student at each language level. This unit outlined the different language levels which can be used to assess a learner's compentency with English which made clear that for each level the needs of the learner are different and therefore a language activity must demonstrate this.
