The subject of teaching special groups is the focus of this unit. It is of particular value to me as it provides food for thought before I commence my English teaching career. It is also exciting since there is the opportunity to specialise, whether it be young learners or adults, one to one teaching or teaching to a group. The unit broaches these areas succinctly covering methodologies, techniques, possible problems and student motivation. It provides ideas and 'do's' and 'don'ts'. Conducting a needs analysis is necessary to plan the course properly so that students get the most out of it and remain motivated throughout its duration. The unit closes with a comparison between teaching a monolingual class and a multilingual class.
