This unit was about classroom management. It discussed topics such as seating arrangements, eye contact, gestures, appropriate ways to establish rapport, and how to exercise discipline. I learned more about how to prevent bad classroom behavior, particularly as it relates to the energy and motivation a teacher provides in making a class interesting. I also found the sections on a teacher's voice and volume and how that influences students' engagement very useful as it is something I hadn't considered deeply in my teaching. I also learned that a teacher's position speaks to the level of intimacy in a classroom. For example, sometimes sitting can be appropriate and actually make students more comfortable.
