This unit was useful because it introduced some areas within a lesson plan where students may struggle with their receptive skills, how these situations occur, and how to avoid them. I appreciated the option of pre-teaching vocabulary in the study phase before beginning any activities. I imagine that a lesson could go much smoother if potential problem words or concepts are introduced before any activities begin. This can also boost student confidence! I also appreciated the Elvis lesson plan example because it provided a tangible guide to organizing a lesson based on authentic readings (most likely catered to a more advanced class). By this unit, I am feeling like my understanding of lesson plans is rounding out nicely.
