I think I have a better understanding now of the distinction between Study and Activate portions of a lesson. The Study portion typically involves more structured activities such as grammar or vocabulary drills while Activate can involve more creative activities often done in pairs or as part of a group. This unit makes clear how these concepts can be applied to teaching writing and speaking skills.Most of this unit comes very easily to me. However, the one exception would be the phrasal verbs. The verbs themselves make sense. Identifying the three different types, on the other hand, is very difficult for me. I agree with the book when it says these types are probably best learned by a vocabulary method. Also, repetition will hopefully make these phrases feel more natural to the students.
