This unit concentrated on teaching productive skills, speaking and writing. It gave two very good examples of ESA methods for teaching these skills. The example for teaching speaking involve talking about the weather in the engage phase, going over weather vocabulary in the study phase, and preparing weather reports in the activate phase. The example for writing the engage phase involved trying to describe what was going on in action pictures, the study phase involved filling in the text for cartoon strips, and the activate phase required the students to fill in the text of one frame without knowing what the other students wrote. These examples were described well. I would have appreciated even a few more examples.
