This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covers classroom management. It covers aspects of the teacher's eye contact, gesture, and voice; explaining how each can be used in the class. It also covers using student names, grouping students, arranging the classroom, writing on the board, giving individual attention, teacher talking time versus student talking time, giving instruction, establishing rapport, and maintaining discipline. Having been a teacher for the past ten years, much of this was a no-brainer. Having not taught in a context in which maintaining discipline is difficult, and knowing that in the future it may be difficult, it was helpful to learn about how to maintain discipline and reasons why students may exhibit problem behaviour.
