This unit was very enlightening in terms of its explanations of different syllabus methods. I found the breakdown of the syllabus planning to be very helpful too. I feel that I would be able to plan a proper Business English short course now, having learned about the various reasons for time allocations. I also appreciated the differentiation between level placement and needs analysis.This section touched on the complexity of pronunciation in the English language. It approached if from a very theoretical point of view and discussed a few keystones for linguists. Much discussed was IPA chart and how it can be use to construct the sounds of the English language. This section also discussed where sounds are made in the mouth and how to teach the difference to students.
