This unit covers the basics on how to test and assess students on their placement level and progress. The different tests mentioned in this unit serve a variety of purposes but all are issued with the same goal of accurately evaluating student's abilities and current knowledge base. Some tests like the IELTS, the ( International English Language Testing System) are internationally recognized and considered by colleges, universities, employers and immigration services. Other tests, like general progress tests, are conducted in the classroom and their contents can vary according to lesson plans, the kind of material being tested and the the requirements of the establishment the test is being isssued in.
