As a teacher of a classroom, I need to know how to use eye contact without staring at the student, have a good use of the gesture and modulate my voice during the lesson to be clear and efficient. Students can work by their own, in pairs, in groups or the whole class can work together. When a student is working alone is easier for the teacher to fix individual needs but at the same time the interaction student to student is lower. Working in groups or in pairs can increase student talking time and interaction but passive or shy students don't get adeguate opportunity to partecipate. An other important thing is the teacher position. You can be seated or standing. It depends on the activities and on the classroom arrangement. You should minimize the time you spend turning your back to the students, so take your time and prepare the board in advance if possible. A teacher should use the same set of words for each activity, an easy language and visual clues. Be sure that the students understand the instructions asking students to explain back the activity. Teaching includes discipline keeping. The degree of discipline of a class depends on different factors like the age of the studens and class size, but it's important to prevent disciplinary problem being punctual, well preparedand fair. So the teacher should set the example. Keep the problematic student behind after class for a private chat and don't be afraid to ask to your colleague some advice.
