Unit 7 is on Teaching New Language, focusing on the teaching of vocabulary, grammar and functions of language. For vocabulary, there is content on selecting vocabulary for teaching, what students need to know, teaching techniques and a typical sample ESA straight arrow vocabulary lesson. For grammatical structures, there is a list of what students need to know, teaching techniques, and a sample ESA patchwork lesson. For language functions, there is a sample ESA boomerang lesson. The Task Sheet includes tasks for planning two ESA lessons for teaching using the content of this unit, which emphasises the practical application of this content to a classroom situation.
