This unit has provided much needed insight regarding classroom management strategies. The unit explained the benefits of utilizing eyes, voice, and gesture to manage a class. The unit also identified the pros and cons of the four potential ways to group students (whole class, individuals, pair work, and group work). The unit described the advantages and disadvantages of different seating arrangements (rows, circle/horseshoe, and individual seats). Unit 5 also gave various classroom management tips on the following subjects; writing on the board, giving students individual attention, using teacher talk time, giving instructions, rapport building, and classroom discipline. In conclusion, this unit was tremendously helpful and has made me more comfortable with the non-teaching aspects of the classroom.
