This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 13 teaches about pronunciation and phonology. It it not enough for a student to simply learn a word and assign it's meaning - the student must also learn what syllables are stressed in the word in order to speak it. This Unit also highlights the fact that stressing certain words within sentences will convey different meaning. In Unit 13 I learned some new things about the physical-side of articulation, like how our vocal cords and the way we shape our mouth and place our tongue, these physical factors are what allow us to pronunciate. I also learned about the phonemic alphabet and how it can help teach the building of sounds to create words.
