As stated in Unit one, variety needs to take place to keep motivation up. This unit focused on what we need to do to motivate students through three parts of a lesson. First we must engage our students to gain their interest, then we must have them study -- work out the basics -- on whatever was taught and then we activate their learning by having them create something out of what was learned, giving them an opportunity to practice what was learned while also tapping into previous lessons learned.Pronunciation and phonological awareness can be particularly challenging parts of learning English. Varied spellings and pronunciations of English words by speakers from different regions can certainly make the situation even more difficult. For this reason, teachers must pay careful attention to the pronunciations being used by learners to offer the most useful method for encouraging proper speaking--be it modeling, using phonemic symbols, showing diagrams, peer dictations, or even tongue twisters!
