This unit discussed some qualities and roles that makes good teachers and students. Good teachers should be able to transition well between the different roles required for teaching, and their primary goal should be caring for the learning of the students. Good students should be willing to learn and experiment with the new language, ask questions when they need further instruction or clarification, and be able to accept correction well. Different factors will affect the learning of the students, including culture and teaching methods, individual learning methods, motivation, age, and reasons for learning.
From this unit, I learned that the roles of a teacher are often more diverse than I first imagined. My first thought about teaching looks like standing in front of a classroom and giving a lesson, but that doesnâ€™t always need to be the case. I also liked the explanation of the different learning levels. As a learner of another language myself, the levels were well explained and a good personal assessment tool.
