This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was quite complex for me. Instinctively I know how to use grammar but I see now that in order to teach English to others I need to be able to explain grammar concepts clearly with many examples. I learnt a lot. The concept of countable and uncountable nouns was new to me, as were gerunds. I had a good basic understanding of verbs, adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, prepositions, comparatives and superlatives before beginning this unit but the lesson refined my knowledge e.g. reflexive vs possessive pronouns or the structure of how adjective or adverbs or generally placed in sentences. I can see now that it is important to have rules such as place-manner-time to help students remember how to construct a sentence. I think this is a unit I will need to revise frequently before lesson planning to ensure that my own understanding of the subject matter is a refined as possible so I can clearly explain it to others.
